The goal of this workshop is to foster networking between young mathematicians, ranging from B.Sc. students to young postdocs. This event specifically aims to support female and non-binary mathematicians by providing a platform to connect with role-models of different backgrounds, both from inside and outside of academia, who are ready to share insights and experiences from their own career paths.
Join us to build valuable connections that can shape your journey in mathematics!
Registration is closed. Find all information about the event, the role-models and the registration form here: https://sites.google.com/view/career-advice-a2wim/home.
Spots are limited to 30 people. We are looking forward meeting you there.
We get together to celebrate the International Women in Mathematics Day at the University of Vienna!
We will be screening the movie “Secrets of the Surface: The Mathematical Vision of Maryam Mirzakhani“. After the movie, we will do several rounds of speed networking. This is a great chance to connect and discuss your mathematical journey, as well as the role and impact of women in mathematics with fellow attendees in a dynamic setting.
Everyone is welcome! This event is free of charge and no registration is needed. Snacks and drinks are on us :)
The 4th Austrian Day of Women in Mathematics took place on February 22, 2024 in Linz, sponsored by Johann Radon Institute (RICAM) and hosted by RICAM and JKU.

All genders were welcome to participate!
A2WiM hosted an in-person tea time in Vienna in collaboration with VSM (Vienna School of Mathematics) Happy Hour on November 21, 2023 at Fladerei Berggasse. The topic was "Let's talk about diversity".
Agenda:
Part 1: Three short discussion rounds about:
How can the number of women in the doctoral program be increased?
How can other aspects of life, for instance care taking needs, be better accommodated in academia?
How can we change the stereotypical image of a scientist?
Part 2: Let's socialize!
All genders were welcome to participate and contribute to the discussion on inclusion and diversity! The event was supported by the rewire program, a Marie Sklodowska Curie Actions COFUND project funded by the European Commission.
The third edition of the Austrian Day of Women in Mathematics took place virtually on February 28, 2023, with over 100 registered participants.
Check out the conference's webpage here for all details about the program! It consisted of three plenary talks, five paralled sessions with a total of 16 contributed talks and a discussion about "Acadamia vs. Industry" consiting of a gender talk and a panel discussion.

At this year's online DMV+ÖMG conference A²WiM organized a workshop and a mini-symposium:
The workshop Get-together and career advice for young mathematicians, organized by Hana Dal Poz Kouřimská, Teresa Heiss, and Anastasia Molchanova, targeted students and early career researchers, and focused on networking and career opportunities, both within and outside of academia. The schedule included the discussion of career paths and hurdles in small groups with experts with various successful careers, targeted networking with young researchers within your field of expertise, as well as a relaxed late-afternoon program.
A thematic minisymposium "Connecting young researchers by networks" was organized by Veronika Pillwein and Mechthild Thalhammer. The intention was to initiate in particular the scientific exchange between young mathematicians of all genders from Austrian and German institutions, and to promote new perspectives. The connecting element of the eleven speakers with diverse backgrounds was a common research interest in graph and network theory, and led to inspiring talks and discussions.
Both events took place on Monday, 27th of September 2021.
The first edition of the Austrian Day of Women in Mathematics took place virtually on February 23, 2021 with 150 registered participants. See here for the conference's website.
The program consisted of six plenary talks followed by a a talk about women in mathematics and a panel discussion.
